PROJECT # 6

TO CONSTRUCT AN ELECTROMAGNETIC RELAY, CAPABLE OF CONTROLLING OTHER ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS

Materials Needed:

1 3-volt light (christmas light)

buzzer assemble from previous project

wire connection

screws

Remove the wire connections from holes 1 and 7, and connect them in holes 9 and 5. Remove your magnet wire from hole 6 and connected in hole 1. Take the 3-volt light bulb (christmas light) and connect them in holes 3 and 4. Then cut two pieces of connection wires about 6'' long and remember to cut the insulation on both ends of the wire. Then connect one connection wire to holes 6 and 4 and the other connection wire connect it to holes 2 and 3. When you finish connecting the wires you will realize what happen to the light bulb. Now press the key switch. What happened to the light bulb? What ever you do to the key, the light does the opposite. When the key is open, the light is on and when the key is close the is off. This type of circuit has useful applications in computers as a "not" binary cricuit.

Trouble Shooting

1. Check to be sure tha the batteries are good, insulation is removed, and wiring is correct.

2. Be sure the sheet metal strip are making the necessary connections.
